A couple months ago we opened up host applications for our Final Fantasy XIV podcast Aetheryte Radio. We’d like to give a special thank you to everyone that applied! We received more applications than we thought we would!

Today we’re excited to announce that the application process has resulted in two new hosts for Aetheryte Radio! You can read up on each of them after the jump and look forward to hearing them in their first “official” episode being released this week!

Hi! I’m Michelle and/or Xenedra Ambreaus in Final Fantasy XIV. I started playing XIV in open beta as a natural progression from XI, aka, “Hey, a new SE MMO. I guess I’ll give that a go.” I happened to hop from one game to the next with a few people I’d been playing XI with for about 6 years and we wound up wrapped up in the role playing community on Besaid. There I was further tangled into one of Aetheryte Radio’s original 5 billion shows, Remotely Plausible. Aside from Aetheryte Radio itself, I think we might have been the longest running show and even though all we chatted about was RP, we got a lot of kind feedback from the people who listened to us. Thanks for that! Recently, though, the three of us collaborating on Remotely Plausible decided to go our separate ways. This was right about the time AR was asking for hosts, so I thought, “Why the heck not?” Apparently I’m not completely terribly at this talking to people on the internet thing ‘cause here I am!

As I said, I’ve been playing XIV since the open beta. No claim-to-fame like you alpha people, but at least I have an idea of how “interesting” the game was when it first started. Some of you will know that by interesting, I mean badly broken, others maybe not so much, but then you’re dealing with the game in its current form! And isn’t it better? Not only in amount of available content, but even down to the tiniest UI things. It doesn’t take us half an hour to sell something to an NPC!  Isn’t that exciting!? It excites me, and the more info I see, the more excited I get. The game definitely improves at least a little bit each patch, things are looking up. Square Enix has been doing a pretty good job, I feel, of offering us incentive to stick around, as well. So that’s what I’m doing: sticking around, crossing my fingers that SE can deliver the excellence that they’ve promised and bringing the latest information about the game to you guys.

Hello my name is Brian, or you can call me Brin Zalazar. My history with XIV started back at E3 ’09 when they announced Final Fantasy XIV. I started a podcast with my friends, unnamed when we started, but then evolved into the Eorzephoira podcast… I agree, the name sucked… Anyway, we did shows covering any bit of XIV news and speculated a whole bunch based off of what little we had at the time. Soon after I ended up getting approached by the curse network and asked to do a show for their website, and thus the crystal core podcast was born. I did that show for a long while, you might have heard me on it, and it was a lot of fun. During that time, got into Closed Beta, and then into the launch. After the fallout, I stuck it out. I paid for six months of game time and said that I’ll stick it out for that time period, and see where the game was in six months. Well, most everyone knows the story, how the game went free to play, so I kept playing, and kept podcasting. So I stayed involved in the drama that was Final Fantasy XIV, and I’m very glad I did.

I enjoy the game very much, and enjoy being able to play with my wife, and with a bunch of great guys (and gals) in game. Final Fantasy XIV has evolved to a point that I can be both hardcore, and casual, depending on my time, and what’s going on in my life. From here, now being on Aetheryte Radio I hope to bring my sense of humor to the show, as well as my passion for games. As Final Fantasy XIV evolves into its next form, I’m excited to be there on the forefront once more to help bring the latest news, and information about the game for fans of the series. There are those that have already written off this game, and may never come back, however, I believe Square Enix is in a unique position to do something that hasn’t been done in an MMO before, drop a phoenix down on the game and bring it back to life. In some ways they have already, but with 2.0 just on the horizon, it should be a very exciting time for those of us who are enjoying XIV now, and those who will see what it will become here at E3 2012.

Patch 1.21 has been out for a bit now, and 1.21a and the world merge is fresh on the list of hot topics this week.  We talk about some of the awesome content coming in 1.22 including an Imperial Stronghold with ties to Meteor and a new primal fight featuring Garuda!

The big 1.21 patch is here! Jobs, Raids and food/medicine revamps oh my! We talk about the huge amount of content added since our last episode and talk about our experiences trying it out. If you haven’t had some hands on with the patch yet, we highly recommend you try it out!

Patch 1.21 is here and with it, we finally have the introduction of the new Job System! Players can finally play as their favorite Final Fantasy jobs such as Dragoon, White Mage, or Monk. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg! There are also two new instanced raids, revamps to medicine and food and you can get armor for your Chocobo now!

Hello everyone! Today we have some good news and bad news. Which would you like to hear first?…OK so you can’t really pick since this is a post so I’ll just lay it out for you.

We have decided that that due to the amount of information being made available and recent lack of community interaction, that Pet Food Alpha will be stepping down from its weekly release schedule that it has held for the last five years. The show is by no means ending, however we will be spreading the episodes further apart in an attempt to have more “full” episodes. Now on to the good news! Starting this week, we will be alternating between Pet Food Alpha and Aetheryte Radio. Today we’re excited to introduce a new version of our “Player Achievements” segment on Aetheryte Radio.

Bragging Rights will be a single stickied thread in our general discussion forums where you can post your latest accomplishments for a chance to have them read live on the Aetheryte Radio podcast when it airs. And of course they’ll also be in the edited versions of the episodes that are made available for download.

Bragging Rights will vary from our previous Player Achievements in that there will only be a single thread to post in. There will be no more worrying about the achievement thread being posted late and no more worrying about getting your posts up in time for an episode. We’ll also be stopping Wiki gifts for podcasts for the time being.

Mason alert, Mason alert! Man your battle stations! Andrey’s feelings are destroyed when Michelle and Jared display their ire at having a certain unmentionable return. August 18th marked the one year anniversary for Aetheryte Radio!

Join us for this episode as we catch up on some news and answer questions related to the Final Fantasy XIV Beta!

But that’s not all! We also have several exciting announcements regarding  Aetheryte Radio that are sure to get you excited for the future. We’ve been planning everything since we started just over a year ago so we’re very excited to finally be able to tell you about it! We’ll make a post later this week revealing all the details so stay tuned!

As most of you know, we usually wait until there’s quite a bit of information to talk about before releasing an episode. However, with the recent announcement that Final Fantasy XIV would be coming out this September, we felt that was all the reason we needed to throw up a new episode!

One correction we do want to make note of before you listen in. The “tumbler” that we mention for the Collector’s Edition is  part of the Japanese CE. The North American version excludes this item. Check out our wiki page for more information on the Collector’s Edition for each region!
